PRODUCTION

What exactly is a "Virtual Series"?

A Virtual Series is a collection of fan fiction that is patterned after a television show. It is approached as if it were being produced for airing on television. A Virtual Series will often include pictures to tell the story.

If it is supposed to be like a television series, why is it prose?

Simply, this is how we like to write it. We find the script format can be a bit difficult to really get into... Or else Emcee is just making excuses for her inability to write script format.

What’s the length of the episodes?

The episodes break down like a regular television show: a teaser with four acts. The teaser is approximately 2 pages longs and each act is about 10 pages. This equals 42 pages, which means each page is approximately one minute of screen time. Some of the stories are shorter than that.

Who writes the episodes?

The episodes are written by Emcee and are edited by Pablo. The initial concept of the series and the arc for season one and part of season two was developed by Emcee and Fre.

How are the episodes created?

The original concept for the series was developed by Emcee and Fre. Emcee than laid a loose story arc. She then started to plan out the episodes. It was pretty much handled in three seperate "arcs". Then it came to planning out the storylines. They were discussed with Fre and Pablo.

When it comes to writing the actual episodes, Emcee sits down and writes her butt off. She goes through two drafts in this time. She then gives the second draft to Pablo, who then edits it for spelling, grammar and to generally clean it up. She then gives it back to Emcee, who does rewrites.

Then screencaps are either picked or created. The episode is then coded and placed on the website.

How often are episodes posted?

Episodes are posted when they're posted. The series used to "air" on Wednesdays, but that's starting to fall away as Emcee gets more stuff to do. Emcee would rather just post when the eps are ready to post.

Ideally, there would be an episode a week. However, Emcee is quite busy with *many* projects and can get pulled away. If we miss a week, it will probably be posted the week after. Emcee will try as hard as she can not to go over three weeks.

If a new episode is not posted, please don't freak out. Emcee will work on it.

You got something wrong about Stanford!

Did the best we could. Spent hours researching. Anything that ended up wrong, well... It happens.

Or else we chose to ignore it for plot reasons.

What if I don’t like an episode?

Ummm... Sorry?

As with any story or television show, not everyone is going to like it. We'll do our best to make people happy, but in the end.... Can't please them all.

If you don't like what's happening, feel free to comment on it. Be mature about it! You can leave feedback in our forum or Livejournal community or you can email us.

STORYLINES

General

Why Connor?

Because we really like Connor! Also, we felt there were already a lot of "Slayer School" Spin-offs out there. Connor seemed like the most viable candidate for a spin-off after that.

Other than Connor and Andrew what other Buffyverse alum have appeared?

Many. Check the episode guide for all appearances.

Why is *insert character* not around?

Quite frankly, it didn't make much sense within the construct of the story to have too many alum be regulars. Connor has pretty much separated himself from that life. Some people might appear... If they haven't yet, we probably just haven't gotten to them yet!

Why are there so many new characters?

Connor has a new life. That would bring new characters into the mix. Also, as stated above, it was felt we should leave the Slayers, Dawn, Spike, etc out of the story. One of the best things about the Buffyverse was the sense of (dysfuctional) family. That neccessitated new characters to flesh out the group.

Season One

Wesley... Cyvus... Huh?

Simply, Wesley was not quite dead when he was stabbed by Vail. He was DYING. Illyria isn't an expert on humans. When Illyria killed Vail, his soul transferred into Wesley's body. He used his powers to heal Wesley.

Wesley and Vail's personalities combined, but Vail was in control. There are brief appearances of Wesley, but for the most part, it is Vail.

When Vail created a new body, he transferred his essence into it. This left Wesley as the only personality in his body.

Hope that makes some sense. I doubt it.

Who are the Nyazians?

Millennia ago, the Nyazians were human acolytes of the God-King Illyria. They went into battle with it against Illyria's greatest rival. Illyria was killed by its rival, but in the throes of death, Illyria's essence spread throughout its army. While many died, others were transformed into demons. These newly formed demons became the Nyazian species.

The Nyazians were a fearsome species for thousands of years, using their tremendous strength and their abilities to bend reality and travel through dimensions to conquer other races. But around the turn of the millennia they gave up their warlike ways and became scholars, using their abilities to maintain reality and to "read" reality, predicting the future. In the Nyazian Scrolls, they wrote about the Troclan, a confluence of events that would center around their champion-- The Destroyer.

One Nyazian was unhappy with the change of their people-- The Ma-Kai, the head of their army. Cyvus Vail tried to adapt to his new life, even writing many of the prophecies in the Troclan himself, but he abandoned these pursuits. He led a rebellion, killing many Nyazians. They ceeded their territory in Los Angeles to Cyvus Vail and moved north to Whistler, British Columbia. The remaining Nyazians hid themselves from Vail, cloaking themselves using their powers. They protected reality while hiding from it. Because of his move against the Nyazians, Cyvus Vail was invited to join the Circle of the Black Thorn.

The only other time a Nyazian has been cast out of the clan was with Mistress Meerna Slaid. She did not abide by the Nyazian rule of isolation. She chose to leave peacefully in the mid-1980s, letting them drain her of much of her powers. She chose to go to the former seat of Nyazian power and becoming a sorceress focusing on dimensional magic.

In 1995, Cyvus Vail's descendant, Azriel, betrayed the clan to his grandfather. Cyvus Vail brought in his Kith'harn demons and butchered the Nyazian clan. Azriel was spared because of his betrayal and he took with him a young woman, Salome Carr. Salome was prophecized to be the Marked One, a Nyazian Warrior, someone who's place in the battle of Cyvus Vail was up for debate. Azriel married Salome in an illegal ceremony that would have left her powerless in an attempt to sway her to Cyvus Vail's side. Salome was able to escape and went to Los Angeles to live with her aunt Meerna. She was nearly tracked down by Azriel three times, but eventually hid as Salome Simpson at Stanford University.

Salome eventually became friends and allies with Connor Angel, the Destroyer. They eventually became lovers. Salome beheaded Azriel, fulfilling the blood vengeance bond she had made with him when he betrayed their clan. Later, she drained Cyvus Vail of his powers to aid in the final battle. Cyvus Vail was then killed by Connor.

The Nyazians have a Council of Elders-- Nyazians that have become so powerful that they have moved onto a higher plan. The first member of the Council of Elders was the Qua-ha Xhan of Illyria. The council is ageless and lives in an ethereal plane. They are described as "Middle Management" between the lower beings and the Powers That Be.

A Nyazian's skin and hair colour vary between red, blue, green and purple. It is based on genetics (like human hair and eye colours). Many of them choose to take on "human" form, only keeping their hair their unique colour.

Nyazians age generally the same as humans until the age of twenty or twenty-one. Then, their aging retards based on how much power they had. Salome is twenty-five, but looks only twenty. Meerna is 140, but looks only thirty.

According to the Watchers Council, there are only a "handful" of Nyazians left. The only known left to survive are Salome and Meerna, however, there are no doubt more still left somewhere in this world or others.

How was the First able to manifest as Connor?

To give Connor his new life, Angel had to kill Connor. He slit his throat. Connor was reborn. He died a lot like Buffy did in S1. He "died", but he didn't DIE.

When did Dana die?

Sometime between "Damage" and the beginning of the Nyazian Prophecies.

How did Cyvus Vail cut Connor and Co from the Slayer's Council?

Think "Same Time, Same Place". Connor and Co don't exist to the Slayer's Council and visa versa.

The Movie

HOW are Illyria and the Nyazians connected?

Illyria is the "creator" of the Nyazian species. There are numerous references in Season One of The Nyazian Prophecies, but it is the movie that makes this connection implicitly. You can read in the "Who are the Nyazians" question as to how the history works.

Why did Angel want to keep Connor's identity from Buffy?

Mostly, it had to do with Darla. Angel didn't want to admit to Buffy that he had slept with Darla again.

What was the point of the Game?

Eve, who is working for Wolfram and Hart again, made a deal that if she could kill the seven chosen Champions, they would revive Lindsay. They gave her access to any "dark" champion living or dead, who they promised life and a prize to if they managed to kill the "light" champions. What each dark champion was promised:

Adam-- Access to the remains of the Initiative
Glory-- A way to get home
Caleb-- A way to summon the First again
Azriel-- Salome and various torture devices

The Turok-Han and The Beast didn't want anything, as they are just in love with destruction. Hamilton was also not offered anything, as he already worked for Wolfram and Hart.

Lilah, Tucker and James Black were also given to Eve as assets to pull off the game, partially because of their close connection to the light Champions. The Immortal worked with them due to his long-standing relationship with the firm, but only if Buffy rejected his advances.

Salome refers to Kennedy as Willow's "ex-girlfriend". When did they break up?

Obviously, some time between "Chosen" and the movie. While Willow and Kennedy are still close, their relationship failed. Simple as that. No dire.

Why were Riley, Groosalugg, Salome, Wesley, Xander and Gunn sent to save the Champions?

Salome, obviously, was the one who possessed the power to open up the portal to the holding dimension.

Riley, Groo, Wes and Gunn are very capable fighters, probably more capable than anyone else as the Council, other than the random Slayers and, frankly, they're not fun to write.

As for Xander... Well, I have no clue.

Season Two

What does Connor remember about Connor Riley?

Connor retains none of Connor Riley's childhood memories. He remembers living as Connor Riley from 2003-2005. He remembers what he truly lived. He still thinks of the Rileys as family, though in a different way than he did previously.

Connor retains the practical knowledge gained from Cyvus Vail's spell-- For instance, he has the knowledge one would gain from attending high school. He just does not remember attending high school.

What does everyone else remember about Connor Riley?

Everyone who met and interacted with Connor Riley between 2003-2005 remembers him with perfect clarity. The Rileys still have a fondness for Connor, as they have lived with him as their son for two years. Jamie retains perfect memories of Connor, as he did not meet him until after the spell was cast.

As revealed recently, the Rileys remember Connor living as their son, however the full details of this have yet to be revealed.

Does Connor have identification? Is Connor Riley still a REAL person?

On paper, Connor Riley still very much exists. It's revealed in 2x07 that Connor, with the help of Willow, has changed his birth records so that Angel and Darla are now listed as his parents and he now officially goes by the name "Connor Angel".

What powers has Salome gained from draining Cyvus Vail?

She's not sure yet. Before gainging control of her powers, she teleported when she sneezeed. She can also choose to teleport, thought it doesn't always work.

She is capable of opening interdimensional portals and selectively altering the flow of time. She has also shown ability to alter someone's brain chemistry, even a god.

Is Flying Demon Monkey a real comic book shop?

The storefront is a manipulated image Toronto location of the Silver Snail. This is a Toronto landmark and a favourite of Emcee. She chose it because it is the best looking comic shop she's ever seen. The Silver Snail is located at 367 Queen Street West in Toronto, Ontario.

What happened to the Nyazian Scrolls?

A deleted scene from episode 1x22 reveals that Connor gave the scrolls to the Watcher's Council. Incidentally, in this scene both Connor and Andrew get back pay from the Council for their work.

Where does Salome hide the Nyazian Fang?

As has been shown in both the movie and the series, Salome has gained the ability to make the Nyazian Fang appear and disappear at will. This is directly connected to the powers Salome has gained from Cyvus Vail. While it has not been explained on the show, Salome is now capable of keeping the Nyazian Fang outside of reality, essentially inside its own pocket dimension. Andrew and Jamie have taken to calling this trick "Hammerspace" (a reference to both Japanese anime and Warner Bros cartoons).

If Salome is a demon, why is she Jewish?

Back when the Nyazians were still warlords, they took several hundred human, Jewish slaves. Many of these slaves eventually had children with the Nyazians. Since it had been over a thousand years, the type of Judiasm Salome follows is very different from the norm.

Salome describes her Judiasm was "Illyrian Reform", a denomination specific to the Nyazian Species.

What's the story with Magnimus and Glory?

Many, many years millennia ago, Quortoth was ruled by three Hellgod Sister, known as the Triumvirate of Torment: Magnimus, Grandae and Glorificus. Each represented a different part of a whole: Magnimus was the "mind", Grandae was the "spirit" and Glorificus was the "body". Together, they conquered dimensions. At one point, Grandae and Magnimus visited Earth and helped kill Illyria.

When Glorificus' power grew to great, Magnimus convinced Grandae to use her powers to cast Glorificus out, sending her to Earth in the body of a human. With Glorificus dispatched, Magnimus was able to get rid of Grandae and rule Quortoth on her own. She was the unquestioned ruler and no one was more feared than her. At least, until the Destroyer arrived...

Is Andrew gay?

As of episode fifteen, Andrew is involved in a homosexual relationship with Matthew Moon. He, however, has not identified himself as gay. Rather, he intentionally avoids saying he is, just choosing to say he's "dating Matty". However, he is most definitely attracted to men.

Beyond

Will there be a season three?

Due to the commitments of Emcee's real life, there will not be a season three of the Nyazian Prophecies. However, there WILL be a trio of "Virtual Movies" which will finish off the storyline. The first of these is entitled "The Ties That Bind".
