Custom Figure: Andrew Wells from The Nyazian Prophecies: Fissures

I made this for the Where are they Now? challenge at the Buffy figure forum. It was a lot of fun to use the story I had created for the Nyazian Prophecies for a custom figure. In the second season of TNP, Andrew opened a comic shop called Flying Demon Monkeys. In the Halloween episode, he dresses in a pathetic, homemade Spider-Man costume.

Andrew is made from an Oz pre-production figure. I shaved the hair and raised the hairline. I also shaved down the sleeves and resculpted them into a long shirt. He has full articulation.

The base is made from Fred’s wall. I painted it and created shelving from a CD jewel case, cutting it to fit and then gluing it onto the base. They’re decorated with Star Wars micromachines figures, which I thought made good statues for the shop. There are also three framed pictures: Connor and Salome, the main cast of Jamie, Salome, Connor, Andrew and Oni, and one of Jamie and Andrew. The posters are all computer printouts and are things I thought Andrew or Jamie would like. The X-Men poster and Battle Royale poster are actually in-jokes referring to the fact that Anna Paquin (Rogue in X-Men) and Kou Shibasaki (Mitsuko in BR) “play” Salome and Oni. The shoplifting sign is a tribute to “Clerks”.

Andrew’s accessories are a whiteboard, which gives a short synopsis of the trouble befalling the characters in the ep– cracks in reality are forming between Earth and Quortoth. There is also a small heart on the whiteboard, which has C.A. + S.S. on it, because this is the ep where Connor and Salome start to reconcile. Andrew also has a book on portals, three comic books (including Astonishing X-Men) and a notebook with pictures of Connor fighting a vampire in it. The knife in his hand is one he gives to Jamie for protection in this episode.
